Should you stay in a relationship because you have kids?

A lot of individuals go into relationships or stay in relationships they don't want to because they have a child or children. Then there are the couples that get married not because they feel it's what I want to do but it's the right thing to do for the child(ren). Especially when the relationships aren't good ones and your not happy. Should having children determine your relationship status?

I think the obvious answer would be hell to the no but I don't have kids and sometimes when kids love their fathers you don't want to take that risk and have the split backfire on your children's relationships.

But clearly if your relationship is worthless it can really damage your child's chances of being a loving productive human.

I agree. HELL No jsut casue you get pregnant dont mean you need to get married. If the man does get married when he finds out she is pregant AMEn to him for doing the right thing, but is it really the right thing. Maybe you culd be hruting your child in the future if it aint true love and in the future the man could HATE you feeling you trapped him, yeah you may not have ask him to marry you but you know (well most) you want him to. Why did you even get pregnant. I am sure he thought you were on BIRTHCONTROL. True he could have sued something but he was trusting you, then there goes the TRUST

Now this is a topic I know a lot about.

I did this for many, many years. I did it partially for the children (2 boys and a girl) and partially for financial reasons.

With 3 children and little education I was scared of being poor and broke without him.

I also wanted my children to grow up with their dad and was deathly afraid of being called or seen as a stereotypical (Black) single mom.

So I stayed and we didn't get along and this lasted for well over a decade before I asked him to leave last November 2007.

I wouldn't recommend anyone do this because you will probably do more harm than good to yourself and your children, especially if they are watching mommy and daddy fighting all the time.
